2009 Gala
A Midwinter Night’s Dream
The 2009 Gala was held on February 28th at the new BluFalls Arts and Events Center. The gala, named appropriately “A Midwinter Night’s Dream”, proved to be a real dream world for when the evening was over, Outfitters had raised over $36,000 for children in need in South Madison County!
Guests were treated to the music of Gordon Brooks while mingling during the social hour. In addition to visiting with neighbors and friends, the over 280 attendees took the opportunity to look at and bid on the silent auction items. As guests entered the main ballroom, the centerpiece of the room immediately caught their attention and made their mouths start watering. “Sweet Dreams” was the centerpiece displaying over 35 desserts from the finest restaurants and bakeries in central Indiana. The desserts were brought in for Outfitters 2nd annual Dessert Auction. The dessert auction was the main fundraising activity. Tables bid for their desserts with the highest bidding table getting to choose first and on down the line. Competition was stiff with the top table bidding $3,500.
After the dinner catered by Simple Decadence, the guests were invited to participate in a live auction for items such as a three-day pheasant hunt in South Dakota, a week’s stay at a 5-start condo anywhere in the world or four rounds of golf at one of the most private golf clubs on the north shore of Chicago.
R.L. Godbey Construction was presented with the Community Partner of the Year Award for all their help with Outfitters Block Party. Patti Perkins was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award for volunteering over 800 hours this past year. The evening ended with the guests dancing to the tunes of Jim Noggle to the wee hours of the night.
Outfitters would like to thank all the sponsors and attendees who made our “Midwinter Night’s Dream” a dream come true for the children of South Madison County!
