Store Policies

  1. Outfitters exists solely on donations from our community and is staffed primarily by a dedicated group of caring volunteers. We are here to help make this a fun experience for you and your children. We strive to treat each person with dignity and respect and ask the same courtesy in return.
  2. Your privacy is very important to us which is why all shopping is by appointment. When you are shopping, you will most often be the only family in the store, however we do sometimes have appointments overlapping.  We try not to schedule middle school or high school students close to each other so these students do not have to worry about running into their peers. We require all our volunteers to sign a confidentiality policy agreeing not to discuss our clients outside of our organization. We also ask the parent/guardian of each family sign a confidentiality policy which lets us know who we may speak to within your household when we call.
  3. Once you have obtained a referral form or shopping voucher you will need to call Outfitters at 765-778-9097 to schedule your appointment. Appointments are available Monday – Thursday between 3:30 and 7:30 pm and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00-11:00 am. When you call we will ask for the following information:
    • parent/guardian name
    • phone number
    • your child/children’s name(s)
    • your child/children’s clothing sizes
    • what grade your child is in
    • what school he/she attends
  4. This allows us to stock the store with appropriate inventory prior to your appointment. If your child has special clothing needs (i.e. short, tall, wears only skirts, wears only elastic waist pants, etc.) please let us know this information when you call. Every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.
  5. When you arrive for your appointment, you must present your shopping voucher or referral form. You will then be asked to fill out a short information form. We allow 30 minutes for each child to shop. You will be given a shopping list which lets you know exactly what you may receive. Items may not be substituted. On occasion, you may not be able to complete your wardrobe because of lack of availability in a certain area of our store. Please let one of our volunteers know which items you cannot find as we may have more selection in stock that is not on the rack.
  6. Our clothes are a combination of new and “gently-used” items. Underwear and socks are always brand new. We work very hard to hang only items that are in good condition with a variety of different styles. However, If the clothes do not meet your expectations and you would rather not stay and shop, we will respect your decision. Just, kindly, let one of our volunteers know your wishes.
  7. We do not have a return policy. Therefore, we strongly encourage clients to take advantage of our dressing rooms to ensure that your clothing selections fit properly. For this reason, we also require your child be present during the shopping appointment. In rare instances, we will make an exception to this rule; however, it must be discussed with us prior to your appointment.
  8. Outfitters is open year-round and clients may shop twice per year. If you shop at Outfitters in the fall/winter season, you will receive an invitation by mail to shop again in the spring.
  9. Please keep your children with you at all times while shopping.
